Did anyone watch the People’s Choice Awards last night? I caught the tail end of the broadcast, and while it did seem to be a bit of a snoozefest, one lovely lady did catch my eye: Christina Applegate, who accepted the award for Favorite Female TV Star wearing a simple yet dazzling floor-length black maxi dress with sparkling accents on the straps and under the bust. The flattering - and forgiving - empire waist shape makes this an easy look to pull off, and Christina wisely chose to accent the gown with a few well-placed pieces of diamond jewelry (a bracelet and a pair of drop earrings that just grazed the bottom of her long bob) rather than drenching herself in baubles and potentially upstaging the dress. She looks fantastic, healthy (take that, cancer!) and completely age-appropriate. I also adore the makeup and hair, from her center-parted, slightly undone bob to her glossy red lip, perfect with both her black dress and the shade of her hair. Bravo, Christina! You win my first Red Carpet Award of ‘09!
