Despite the fact that Meagan has already provided you with a fabulous Golden Globes wrap-up - one which largely sums up my overall thoughts as well - you didn’t think you could get away without hearing my picks for the evening’s Best Dressed, did you? First, let me preface this post by saying that I wholeheartedly agree with Meagan’s ho-hum feelings toward most of the evening’s fashion choices. I actually said, “Why is everyone wearing neutrals?!” out loud at least three times while watching the red carpet arrivals. However, despite the fact that the majority of the stars decided to play it safe, pretty and slightly boring, there were some fashion standouts. Here are my favorites:

anne hathawayAnne Hathaway is my #1 pick for Best Dressed, in her Armani Prive gown. (Surprisingly, I happened upon this photo in a Worst Dressed slideshow! Go figure.) I think the sparkling, fitted bodice and full skirt, complete with dramatic train, add up to one perfect red carpet dress. I also love the rich, midnight blue color, which edges close to black but adds something a bit more unexpected. Plus, the dark hue looks magnificent with her fair skin. Classic and glamorous.

evan rachel woodEvan Rachel Wood, who has had some red carpet missteps in recent times (mainly involving unnatural hair colors and too-heavy makeup), completely redeemed herself in this flapper-inspired Elie Saab gown with plunging neckline and tiered floor-length skirt. Not only is the dress lovely, but Evan also gets my vote for Best Makeup of the night. She strikes the perfect balance between natural and glam, managing to look made-up but not overdone.

rumer willisLove, love, love this Reem Acra gown on Rumer Willis, a.k.a. Miss Golden Globe! I think my favorite part is the delicious plum color, which goes so well with her skin tone and the deep red of her hair, but I also love the flattering full skirt and the way she accentuates her tiny waist with that belt, which double as a piece of jewelry. (Note: This is another one that I found on that Worst Dressed list. Are they crazy, or am I?!)
angela kinseyI thought Angela Kinsey of The Office looked beautiful in this strapless burgundy satin gown. (I haven’t been able to figure out who designed this dress; any ideas?) Seeing Angela looking so calm, soft and pretty was quite the revelation, considering how uptight her character is on The Office! I also thought her castmates Jenna Fischer and Mindy Kaling looked equally great; seeing everyone from that cast all decked out was truly like running into your coworkers at a glitzy black tie event instead of under the drab fluorescent lights of the workplace.
drew barrymoreFinally, my Wild Card award goes to Drew Barrymore in her soft blue Galliano for Dior gown. At first, I liked it. Then, I hated it. But now, the more I look at it, the more I love it! I think the dress is undeniably lovely, and I love how she paired it with that red satin clutch for a great “POP” of color, but the hair…the hair! Does she look like the lead singer in a ’60s girl group or your loopy aunt after two cocktails too many? This is a huge point of contention in the blogosphere right now, folks. I must know your thoughts on the matter.

Drew's hair: Terrific or Terrifying?
