Just within the past few years have the benefits from acai truly been brought to the forefront.  Often referred to as the “Fountain of Youth,” this berry is high in antioxidants, omega fibers, and amino acids.  There is recent evidence that has powerful anti-aging properties.  The acai berry is found in Brazil and has long been used for many different health and wellness purposes by the locals.  Many of today’s top of the line health and beauty products, such as skin and hair care, contain acai, and it is also popular in smoothies and other health drinks.  Recent scientific studies also indicate there may be a strong connection between acai and cancer prevention.

Acai berries contain ten to thirty times the anthocyanins found in red wine.  Anthocyanins have been proven to reduce cardiovascular disease.  France has a much lower rate of this disease than Americans, even though the French normally consume a diet higher in fat.  Many scientists contribute this to the daily red wine consumption by many people in France.

Acai berries will continue to play a role in our health and beauty care products.  I’m sure we have yet to see the full benefits from this berry.
