I’ve come across several do-it-yourself beauty blogs lately, which may be a sign of the times. Spending extra on beauty treatments doesn’t seem as prudent these days and the best thing about these next three tips is that they use products you most likely already have in your kitchen. Here’s a few perfectly simple ways to pamper yourself over the long weekend:
BellaSugar has a blog today about five ways to use olive oil and this one sounds like one I want to try soon:
“Deep conditioning treatment: Get out of the shower and apply oil on shampooed, towel dried hair. Put it up in a plastic cap and blast it for about 10 minutes with a hair dryer. Let sit for 10 more minutes and rinse out.”
My hair has been fried lately - it’s gotten longer so it’s not curling as nicely and I’ve been flat-ironing it more - so this is high on my list to try.
Sephora’s blog has this nifty tip to get your skin glowing - perfect for this time of year when skin is feeling pasty:
“Mix a couple of pumps of cleanser with a palmful of dry oats and pack it on your skin. After five minutes, rinse. Skin feels tighter, smoother, and moisturized.”
So simple and easy to try. I wonder if my Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal would work…maybe not…
And I’ve always loved this skin exfoliating tip from our very own Melissa:
“A tip from Lidia, one of Gwyneth Paltrow’s aestheticians: Mix two tablespoons each salt and baking soda with the juice of a lemon. Rub on damp legs, then rinse. Your legs will be extra soft - just don’t shave right before.”
Exfoliating the winter right off of your legs can make you feel like new, especially if it’s chilly where you are.
