Dry, Cracked, Chapped Lips

If cracking a smile cracks your lips, it’s time to pay a little more attention to this sensitive part of your body.  With winter’s dry cold and the dry heat inside, chapped lips are very common this time of year.  In order to put forth your best pair of smackers, here are some tips you should follow:

1.  Stay hydrated.  This is one of the most common causes for chapped lips.

2.  Don’t lick your lips.  A little common sense goes a long ways.

3.  Change toothpaste.  Believe it or not, your current brand of toothpaste may make your lips more susceptible to chapping.

4.  Use lip balm once an hour.  This will help keep your lips supple.  My favorite is Burt’s Bees.

5.  Stop smoking.  Another reason to quit.  Not only do smokers have chapped lips more frequently due to dryness of the lips, they are often outside more to smoke.
