Once again, on the advice of a friend (the same fashion-forward friend who pointed me in the direction of Fred Flare, in fact!), I have a wonderful website to share with you: Behold, the quirky sensibility and keen eye for detail of accessories goddess Tarina Tarantino. First of all, she has a cool name. Secondly, look at that hair! Love! And finally, I’m so down with the spooky-cute jewelry on her website. Grinning skulls meet elaborate baroque detailing and pretty, girly colors on everything from bracelets and earrings to headbands and belt buckles. Tarina also has pieces that incoporate other unusual motifs, like seahorses, owls, and vintage Alice in Wonderland illustrations, as well as ones that feature her unique spin on such hallmarks of girliness as Barbie and Hello Kitty - all of them are fun and cute, but the skulls are my favorite.
How amazing would any of these look with your basic summer wardrobe? Wear the earrings or bracelet with jeans and a simple tank, or throw the locket on with a sundress. I guarantee you’ll get comments and compliments all day long. I also adore how everything is vaguely reminiscent of the chunky plastic costume jewelry I used to wear as a kid. So much fun! If you’ve been looking for an accessory to really carry an outfit, browse around Tarina’s site - you have your work cut out for you.
