When I first started wearing mascara, I gleefully applied it to each and every lash I could find. Top, bottom, those little stragglers in the inner corners, whatevs - I just wanted every lash to be as long and lush as possible. Then I started reading in my fashion and beauty mags that mascara should never be applied to the bottom lashes, because it can look too “over-the-top.” Woefully, I obeyed, and limited my mascara usage to my top lashes only. Since then, I’ve never given it much thought…and then I discovered that Tarte has created a brand new mascara specifically for the bottom lashes, cleverly called Bottoms Up Lower Lash Mascara. The formula is flake-free to prevent raccoon eyes, and the tiny, tiny brush enables you to get in there and catch all those microscopic bottom lashes. Lucky’s Beauty Blog even advocates skipping your normal mascara and using Bottoms Up on your lower lashes alone for a look that’s “wide-awake yet utterly natural-looking.” I haven’t tried that yet, but I did put mascara on my bottom lashes for the first time in ages today, and guess what? It’s awesome. The trick is to make sure you avoid using a heavy hand, and voila! Bigger eyes. What are your thoughts on lower lash mascara?
