bottom-of-footLoved this tip in this month’s Cosmo:

To get rid of the icky callused skin you’ve been hiding under your socks and boots, submerge your feet in a bowl of grapefruit, orange or lemon juice (you can use on or a combo of the three) diluted with equal parts warm water.  “The citrus acid loosens up dead skin better than a regular soak does,” says Donna Perillo, owner of Sweet Lily Spa, in NYC.  After 5 minutes, slough your feet with a pumice stone, then massage your entire foot with an oil-based sugar scrub.  Rinse it off, and slather on a body or foot balm.  *Whip up your own foot scrub with 1/2 c. brown sugar and 1/2 c. olive oil.* (4/09, pg. 98)

Sounds like a perfect do-it-yourself project since it includes ingredients that you most likely already have in your kitchen.  I am particularly excited about the brown sugar scrub because as much as I love Fresh’s Brown Sugar Body Scrub, mama’s on a budget!  (If you are in the market for a splurge though, it is definitely worth it…)  Let me know if you try this tip out!
