You may recall that I posed a similar question not too long ago, regarding blue lip gloss (a trend which many of you were hesitant to embrace). Well, not to worry - if you weren’t feeling the blue lips love, try something a little…darker.

Okay, a lot darker. In keeping with this fall’s dark lips trend (one which I wholeheartedly endorse, I might add), here are a couple of products that will give you the darkest lips imaginable, with a hit of sexy shine to boot. On the left, we have Yves Saint Laurent’s YSL Gloss in Pur Black. The site claims that the shade can range from "plum to ebony," depending on how much you apply, and that it’s "transparent yet intense" and sparkle-free. The shade is a limited edition, but you can pre-order it online (it’s expected to ship in mid-September). On the right, Lancome offers a take on black gloss that’s a bit more wearable - mainly because it comes paired with a luscious red lipstick. You can wear the gloss and the lipstick individually, together (for a deep, black cherry pout) or even try slicking a bit of the gloss on your eyelids. The Color Fever Gloss in Piha Black and the accompanying Color Fever Lipstick in Piha Red (intended to match the signature red soles of a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps!) retail together for $48 - but if you’re interested, keep in mind that these two are, like the YSL gloss, limited edition. In fact, only 500 sets will be available for sale in the U.S. If you live in New York, head on over to the Bloomingdale’s on 59th St. to put your name on the waiting list; if not, check Lancome’s website again a little closer to the launch date in November.

So what do you think? Are you as excited about this trend as I am, or are you even more baffled than you were by the blue lip gloss back in July?

Would you buy black lip gloss?
