If you’re gearing up for a little fall footwear shopping but you’re not feelin’ the granny boot (or perhaps you are feelin’ it, but you know that a lady can never have too many shoes!), here’s another lovely style of shoe that you’ll probably be seeing everywhere in the coming months: The oxford pump.
This style does a fantastic job of balancing menswear elements (the laces, the classic business-like cut of the shoe) with feminine flair (the heel, plus pretty touches like perforated detailing, ribbon laces or patent leather). I think the best way to wear an oxford pump is with thick, textured tights and a slim-cut skirt, or one of fall’s jewel-toned floral print dresses and a chunky cardigan. However, they would look equally smashing with a pair of slightly slouchy trousers and a fitted top. There’s something very cheeky about them, no? Very British schoolboy.
And, of course, my favorite take on this style is Gianni Bini’s gorgeous patent leather "Studio" pair in a delicious shade of deep plum. What better way to incorporate a little purple this season?
