I’ve got a major thing for Rodarte and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I was scrolling through various Fashion Week blogs and I saw the above concoctions and fell in love immediately with whoever came up with such fluid designs. The dresses conjure up the image of an artist’s paint brush making broad strokes across a metaphysical canvas - a canvas that is simultaneously floating and transparent, so that all you see is the paint strokes. And then this canvas transforms and molds itself to the female form to create a perfect dress. These dresses made me feel like singing. And when I saw that they were from Rodarte, my heart smiled. Of course. I just fell in love with their dress that Natalie Portman wore at the Venice Film Festival last week. And now I see their spring collection and their designs make me wax poetic. So if love makes you want to write bad poetry, then I love Rodarte.
Here are a few more pieces from their spring collection that I want to write music for:
If you want to see more of the collection, check out The Cut’s slideshow.
