Chanel has a fantastic knack for launching nail trends (see: Kaleidoscope, the Robertson Blvd. collection, Blue Satin, Vamp), and it looks like they’re going to do it again with their sexy new Moscow Nail: Russian Nights collection, three shimmery metallic black-based jewel tones that are already becoming hot commodities.
The three shades are, from left to right, Feu De Russie, a deep sparkling berry, Or De Russie, a mysterious gold, and Nuit De Russie, a gleaming midnight blue that evokes the night sky. According to Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel and the collection’s creator, “When you apply the shades, which are rather dark, the surprising element is that they capture light so well that they create a fireworks effect – the shades dazzle with an unbelievable sparkle.” Um, yes please. The downside? These lovely lacquers are hardly wallet-friendly, at $30 apiece. But if the past is any indcation, you can count on seeing some affordable dupes in no time once the collection really takes off. What do you think? Are you ready to splurge on Chanel’s Russian Nights nail colors?
