Here’s a disturbing revelation about those profoundly unsanitary makeup testers that adorn cosmetics counters everywhere:

One researcher found high levels of bacteria, including E.coli, from fecal matter (yes, you read that right!) in samples of lipstick, eye shadow, blush, and cream taken from several different cosmetics counters. If you’re getting an in-store makeover, ask for the products to be sanitized - and never put anything near your eyes, nose, or mouth that hasn’t been.

Yikes! Personally, I’ve always been wary of those things. I mean, it’s nice to see the makeup out of its package before you purchase it, and I will definitely smear a little lip gloss or eye shadow on my inner wrist or my hand in order to get some idea of how the shade will look against my skin, but I always balk at the sight of women who dive right in and use the testers to apply makeup to their face. Also, ladies? Wash your hands! Please!

Do you use the makeup testers at cosmetics counters?
