Here’s an interesting nail idea straight from Florence, Italy, courtesy of the Sephora blog: Apparently painting a stripe of color down the center of your nail and leaving the sides bare is all the rage in Italia. And lest you think this is simply the lazy woman’s way of avoiding the time-consuming task of applying a full coat of polish, a Florence shopkeeper interviewed by Sephora blogger Jennifer Appenrodt declared the look "fashionable and chic," while Appenrodt herself said the look was an excellent way to "add some grit to your glamour." A little online research indicated that, like the nude nails/white tips French manicure, this look actually has a name: The Italian Manicure! (Check out easy, step-by-step How To’s here and here.) Another advantage of this trend is that it makes nails (and, by extension, fingers) look longer and more slender - elegant yet edgy. Personally, I’m all for it! Plus, painting right up to the side of your nails can be terribly messy. I think an Italian manicure is definitely in my future. Is there one in yours?

What do you think of the Italian manicure?
